Math is a tricky subjects for most students. Each math problem has an exact answer that needs to be reached, and sometimes kids just can’t figure out how to get to that answer. There are some tricks, however, for learning to do math.
The biggest tip I have to offer is to practice. One can’t sit down at the piano and immediately start playing a masterpiece. Likewise, one can’t sit down at a desk and do the hardest math problem in the book. Math takes practice.Didn’t catch that? This explains it.Confused? Here ‘s a little help .
Another tip is to study the math and really learn it. Don’t just teach your child how to do the problem, but teach them why they are doing what they are doing and what it means.
Parent involvement is important in any activity a child is learning, including math. While you may not have enjoyed math in school, take the time to work with your child on his or her math skills.
With larger math problems, help your child break it down into several small problems. This will be less overwhelming
Finally, teach your child not to get discouraged. This may be hard, but with a positive attitude, math homework will be much easier.
